Twitter’s floating buttons
03/03/10 by Jason Lynes in Design

Noticed today while adding a new Twitter account that Twitter has a great little model for solving the “where’s the actions” fold problem:

Their Next and Back buttons are placed on a little floating div at the footer.  The content obviously scrolls, but no longer do you have to scroll down to Save.  Nice. Filed in the GANK THIS folder.

Very nice. Good use of a static footer.

the more i think about this pattern the more i love it, and want it implemented everywhere. even though i know there’s more below the fold, it’s a huge convenience factor, and even well-designed forms like Tumblr could benefit from this..
